5  UK Aeronautical Information Product Terms and Conditions
5.1 NATS (En Route) PLC ('NATS') as the UK Aeronautical Information Service Provider (AISP) endeavours to make available aeronautical information and data in the UK 'Aeronautical Information Products' in compliance with relevant ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices, except where any differences are notified in the GEN 1.7 section of the UK AIP.
5.2 NATS will maintain the integrity of the information and data supplied to the AIS, from receipt through to the point of publication. However, because these products are compiled using information originated and supplied by numerous external parties, NATS cannot guarantee the accuracy or completeness of content.
5.3 To the fullest extent permitted by law, NATS accepts no liability for your use of UK Aeronautical Information Products.

Note: ‘Aeronautical Information Products’ means aeronautical data and aeronautical information provided either as digital data sets or as a standardised presentation in paper or electronic media. Aeronautical Information Products include:

  1. Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP), including Amendments and Supplements;

  2. Aeronautical Information Circulars (AIC);

  3. Aeronautical Charts;

  4. VFR Charts;

  5. NOTAM;

  6. Digital Data Sets.

5.4 There are a number of commercial organisations and other third-parties that provide data services and/or process data using information sourced from official UK Aeronautical Information Products, and who then make this information available to users within their own products and services (with or without charge). Under current UK legislation there are no regulatory requirements in place for third-party providers other than DAT Providers in the scope of Regulation UK (EU) 2017/373 under Annex VII, Part-DAT.
5.5 Aeronautical data and aeronautical information are necessary for the safety of air navigation and it is highly recommended that all organisations or individuals that process aeronautical information sourced from UK Aeronautical Information Products should apply best practices to ensure that it maintains its integrity, is timely, complete and in a form suitable for users, as described in CAP 779 Regulation of Aeronautical Information Management Services. Every data user is liable for any damages caused by any modification made by it to the data made available by the UK AIS and all losses arising from any misuse of the data. Any identified errors should be reported to UK AIS. Where third-party providers process and re-package information which has been sourced from the UK Aeronautical Information Products and data quality issues are identified, the CAA may investigate and take measures to prevent the incorrect data from being made available to users.
6  Service to contact in case of detected Aeronautical Information Product errors or omissions
6.1 Email: aissupervisor@nats.co.uk
7  Document Referencing
7.1 The pagination and section referencing schemes applied to this document employ a very similar construction. User’s attention is therefore drawn to the essential difference between the two types of reference.
  1. Page numbering is defined by a combination of dots and dashes, whereby the dash represents the page number for information contained within the section, e.g. GEN 3.2-1 is page one of section 3.2.

  2. Section and paragraph numbering is divided by dots, e.g. section AD 2.13 and paragraph 1.2.2.1.

7.2 As a general rule, cross references contained in this document will relate to sections or paragraphs. Reference to page numbers will normally be limited to those containing a chart or diagram.
8  Aerodrome Obstacle Data
8.1 The definition and selection of significant obstacles is being studied and it is to be expected that the existing AIP entries will be subject to future revision.
